The round stones make a strange sound every time a wave comes in.
There is an old legend that “whoever takes the stones away from the beach will bring bad luck,” so the round stones are prohibited from being taken out of the beach.
It is possible that this legend was created because the loss of the round stones would be a problem for tourism, but it is not certain.
If you have someone in your party who you don’t like, you may want to encourage them to take the stones home.
Although marine sports such as swimming are not allowed at Honohoshi Beach due to the rough waves, fishing can be very enjoyable.
If possible, it is recommended to visit early in the morning when the sunrise is very beautiful.
