チャータードビル

1938年竣工のビルで、元々はチャータード銀行(イギリス)の支店だった。 大理石をふんだんに使った吹き抜けフロアなど豪奢な装飾が特徴的だ。 現在はカフェなどが入っている。

Ogi-machi Castle Ruin Observation Area

This observatory was built on the site of the castle of Ujikatsu Yamashita, a vassal of the Uchigashima Tameji clan who ruled this area in the 15th century. The front of the observatory is a precipitous cliff.

Joyato

Joyato(=The All Night Stone Lantern) stands beneath the sea, and it is roughly 11 meters tall. Joyato(=The All Night Stone Lantern) that stands in the harbor is known for being the tallest in Japan. At night, it will be lit, which creates a romantic atmosphere that is different from during the day.

Exile Hut

A small thatched building where criminals were imprisoned during the Edo period (1603-1868). It was moved to a new location and restored in 1965.

高山陣屋

サムライ映画の大掛かりなセットのように見えてしまう高山陣屋は、江戸幕府(1603〜1868年)の代官所の遺構で、敷地面積は約10,000㎡。   かつて郡代所・代官所は日本全国で六十数か所あったが、その中で高山陣屋のみ主要な建物が現存している。 江戸時代の建築技術、文化、生活様式、役所業務などを知ることができる貴重な史跡として高く評価されており、「ミシュラン・グリーンガイド・ジャポン」でも上から二番目の「二つ星」に位置付けられている。

懐華樓

金沢市足軽資料館

下級武士である足軽の生活ぶりを伝える文化施設だ。 1997年、金沢市内にあった清水家と高西家の足軽屋敷合計2棟を現在の場所に移築して開設された。 入り口から見て、手前の右側にあるのが清水家で、奥の左側にあるのが高西家。 ※何と！　高西家の屋敷は1994年まで、清水家の屋敷は1990年まで、住居として何百年もの間使用されていた！ 木造平屋建てで、板葺き屋根に石を乗せた典型的な足軽の家の内部には、足軽の職務についてや日常生活についての展示品や解説文章がある。 こちらも入場料金は無料、金沢市は太っ腹だ！

Suganuma gassho-zukuri village

Surrounded by steep mountains and the Shogawa River, it is a small village measuring approximately 230 meters from north to south and 240 meters from east to west, with nine gassho-zukuri houses remaining. Of these, two were built at the end of the Edo period (1603-1868), and seven were built after the Meiji period (1868-1912).

川越一番街

川越一番街は、約400mの風情がある通りで、川越で最も賑わうエリアだ。 江戸時代(1603〜1868年)後期から明治時代(1868〜1912年)にかけて建てられた30棟余りの蔵造りの建物が立ち並んでいる。 ※通りが歩行者専用となっておらず双方向に車が通るのでちょっと落ち着かないのが難点。 かつて東京に多数あった蔵造りの建物は、関東大震災 (1923年)や第二次世界大戦時のアメリカ軍による空襲によって失われてしまったため、川越の蔵造りの町並みはより一層重要な歴史的遺産となっている。

志摩

1820年に建てられた格式の高いお茶屋で、建設当時の姿のままに残っている貴重な存在であるため、日本の重要文化財に指定されている。 お茶屋特有の繊細で優美な造りとなっており、旦那衆が遊びを楽しんだ座敷、四季折々の表情を見せる坪庭などが公開されている。 1階奥の茶室「寒村庵」では、庭を見ながら抹茶(※季節の生菓子付き700円、干菓子付き500円)を楽しむことが出来る。 ※200円の違いなので、生菓子を頼んだほうが良い。 撮影はスマートフォンでのみ可能。

旧居留地38番館

1929年竣工のビルで、アメリカン・ルネッサンス様式の重厚なデザインが特徴的だ。 元々はシティバンク(アメリカ)の神戸支店だった。 現在は隣接する「大丸神戸店」の別館として営業をしており、ハイブランドのショップやカフェが入っている。
