The architecture was originally constructed in 1915 as a promotion hall, Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall Hiroshimaken Sangyo Suishokan, but it almost entirely destroyed due to the explosion of the atomic bomb that took place 600 meters above sea level on August 6th 1945. (※The 30 some employees who were working inside the building at the time died instantly)

The architecture miraculously avoided itself from collapsing, but the exterior was shockingly devastating as the wall was crumbled and the framework of the building was bare.

The park is registered as a symbol in the world heritage (cultural heritage) as the “park dedicated for prayers for eternal peace in the world” Sekai no Kokyu Heiwa in order to pass on the misery of the atomic bomb.

Moreover, the Atomic Bomb Dome Genbaku Domu can only be exhibited from the outside, and one must not enter beyond the fence.
