Onomichi is also famous for its cats.

Onomichi is said to be a cat-friendly place because “residents take good care of their cats,” “many slopes and narrow alleys are safe from cars,” and “it is easy to get fish because it is a fishing port.

If you are a cat lover, you should visit the “Cat’s Narrow Path” that runs for about 200 meters from in front of Ushitora Shrine to Tenneiji Kaiuntō.

Along the narrow road you will find cuteness overload with the many friendly and cute cats hanging around, charming stone and wall paintings of cats dotted here and there that make up a total of 108 “fortune stones of cats,” or so they say.

You’ll also notice many stores selling cat goods and general stores selling cat related products.
