高山陣屋

サムライ映画の大掛かりなセットのように見えてしまう高山陣屋は、江戸幕府(1603〜1868年)の代官所の遺構で、敷地面積は約10,000㎡。かつて郡代所・代官所は日本全国で六十数か所あったが、その中で高山陣屋のみ主要な建物が現存している。江戸時代の建築技術、文化、生活様式、役所業務などを知ることができる貴重な史跡として高く評価されており、「ミシュラン・グリーンガイド・ジャポン」でも上から二番目の「二つ星」に位置付けられている。

Sobasho Yamakoshi

This ryokan and buckwheat noodle restaurant is housed in a gassho-style building. The restaurant serves freshly ground, cooked, and boiled buckwheat noodles grown in its own farm to customers. The menu also includes river fish dishes and wild vegetables tempura.

1927年創業の老舗精肉店が運営する、カウンターのみのカレー専門店。メニューは飛騨牛ビーフカレーのみだ。精肉店の仕入れ力を活かし、A5ランクの飛騨牛を130gも使ったビーフカレーを1,600円という極めてリーズナブルな価格で提供している。数十種類ものスバイスが使われているカレーのルーはコクがある味わいだ。この店のレトルトカレー(648円/一人前)を土産物として買って帰ると家族や友人に喜ばれることだろう。

Shirakawago

Tenshukaku Observatory

This is not a lookout located inside the castle. Instead, it is an observation deck next to a local restaurant that has the atmosphere of a mountain hut. It is a little higher than the Ogimachi Castle Ruins Observation Deck, so the view is better. Also, there is a shuttle bus stop here.

日下部民藝館

かつて高山で有数の豪商だった日下部家が1879年に建てた豪邸で、高山の町屋建築の“集大成的な存在”。長さ約13m の梁などを使って組み上げた吹き抜けなど、力強く豪壮な構造が特徴的だ。奥の土蔵が展示室になっており、5,000点ある美術品や民芸品などの収集品が順次公開されている。その他、江戸時代(1603〜1868年)・後期と明治時代(1868年〜1912年)の生活用具なども展示されている。 1階中央部にある休憩所では、お茶と煎餅をいただける(※無料)。吉島家住宅の南隣にある。
