レストラン ル・ミディ

飛騨牛をフレンチテイストで味わうことが出来るレストラン。 オーナーシェフの田上氏は、フランスの三つ星レストランなどで修行を積んだ後、独立してこの店を開いた。 この店は、ステーキ肉には高い等級の飛騨牛のみを仕入れ、それを一番美味しい状態になるまで約2週間かけて熟成させている。 ステーキ以外にも、飛騨牛の肉の特性を活かしたメニューや、地元の食材を使ったメニューが豊富に揃う。 ランチ時には、セットメニューが2,000円程度からあり、ステーキセットも4,000円程度で楽しむことが出来る。 店のお洒落な内外観は、パリにあるビストロを彷彿させる感じだ。

吉島家住宅

かつて両替商と造り酒屋として栄えた豪商・吉島家の住宅で、日本を代表する町家建築物だ。 ※オリジナルの建物は1875年の大火で焼失し、すぐ再建されたものの、翌年に再び消失した。 1907年になってようやく現存のものが建てられた。 見どころは、玄関を入ったところにある土間の大きな吹き抜け空間。 大黒柱を中心として、梁と束柱で組まれた空間は幾何学的な美しさを持っている。 その他、漆塗が施された柱や梁など、繊細で優美な意匠にも注目してくれ。   日下部民藝館の北隣にある。

麺屋しらかわ

いつも行列が出来ている人気店で、メニューは「中華そば」だけだ。 まだ若い店主が作るのは、昔ながらの高山の中華そば。 たっぷりの鶏ガラに野菜や魚介を加え、11時間以上じっくり煮込んで作る醤油味のスープと特注の細ちぢれ麺がよくマッチしている。 具材は、自家製の分厚い叉焼、葱、めんま。 仕上げに入れる黒胡椒の香りがアクセントとなっている。 スタッフたちは気が利き、対応も良い。 夜遅くまで開いていて便利。 (※夜の開店時間は21時と遅いが。)
