About Saijo

Along with Nada from Hyogo Prefecture and Fushimi from Kyoto Prefecture, Saijo in Hiroshima Prefecture is a famous city known as one of the three major Sake breweries in Japan.

Around the station is a Sake Breweries Street with multiple sake breweries with chimneys of red bricks and whitewashed walls, creating a unique atmosphere and scenery in the area.

There are several famous Japanese sake breweries in the city, thus you can enjoy sake tasting and going around various shops.

However, this city is only famous for its Japanese sake brewery, so if you’re not much of a liquor lover, it could be difficult to recommend visiting Saijo.

The best way to enjoy Saijo is to stroll around the city, try some sake tastings, and to profit from the Japanese sake as much as possible.

Since there are 8 brewers close by the station, access to the various sake sites is easy.

There are several stores visitors ca enjoy sake-based gourmet food and Japanese sweets.

Additionally, a sake festival is held on the weekends of early October every year called Sake Matsuri , where the city becomes crowded with more than 200,000 people.
