Farm Tomita is a sightseeing farm with a vast flower garden boasting as many as 80 varieties of flowers, mainly lavender.

It is one of Hokkaido’s main attractions, visited by approximately 1 million tourists every year from all over Japan and abroad (*before Covid19) for its beautiful flowers and spectacular scenery.

Various flowers bloom from spring to fall, but the highlight is the lavender season, which is at its peak from mid to late July.

The spectacle of the purple carpet that covers the land is truly a spectacular sight.

The park is divided into more than a dozen fields for each type of flower and plant. The two most popular fields are the Traditional Lavender Field, the oldest lavender field in Japan, and the Irodori Field, where colorful bands of flowers are strung across the hills like a rainbow.

There are several stores and cafes in the park, where visitors can enjoy not only flower viewing but also shopping and dining.

Lavender goods (potpourri, perfume, aroma oil, soap, etc.) are popular as souvenirs, and dishes using fresh local ingredients (seasonal vegetable curry, etc.) and sweets (lavender soft serve ice cream, lavender honey pudding, etc.) are delicious and reasonably priced.

Keep in mind Farm Tomita is very crowded during the peak season from mid to late July, especially on afternoons on weekends and holidays.

The roads are jammed and you have to wait a long time to enter the parking and cafes.

During the peak season, it is best to visit on a weekday around 8:00 a.m. if possible.

You may go earlier in the day (after sunrise) since Farm Tomita is open 24 hours.
